What Early Access Actually Means

Early Access is a paid public-test stage. You get a working game, but with three trade-offs:

Reduced content. Expect fewer biomes, creatures, and vehicles than the eventual 1.0 build.
Active patching. Balance numbers, AI behaviour, even biome layouts can shift week-to-week.
Possible save wipes. Major story or progression updates may force a fresh save.

In return: cheaper price, free upgrade to 1.0, the Reaper Leviathan Statue blueprint, and the chance to influence development through community feedback.

Buy Subnautica 2 between May 14, 2026 at 8:00 AM PT and May 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM PT on any supported platform. The Reaper Leviathan Statue blueprint is delivered to your in-game inventory automatically once the promotional window closes. It's purely cosmetic — a base-decorating item, not a gameplay advantage.

Buy at EA if you:

Loved Subnautica 1 and want to play co-op with friends ASAP.
Don't mind wipes, balance changes, and incomplete content.
Want the cheaper price and the Reaper Leviathan Statue cosmetic.

Wait for 1.0 if you:

Want a complete, polished story experience on first playthrough.
